BC MQI is pleased to welcome Nora Cummins, MD, FRCPC, as our new Executive Medical Lead. Dr. Cummins is a Community General Internist who has worked in and around Vancouver in smaller community hospitals, in quaternary teaching centres, as a consultant in rehabilitation inpatient care, and in a variety of ambulatory clinic settings. She is a graduate of the John A. Burns School of Medicine, University of Hawaii and completed her Internal Medicine residency in Vancouver in 2002. She is currently a Clinical Associate Professor affiliated with UBC.
Dr. Cummins brings twenty years of clinical practice experience, and additional collaborative leadership in the Department of Medicine at Mount St Joseph Hospital, St Paul's Hospital, Vancouver General Hospital, and UBC Hospital. She is a graduate of the UBC Sauder School's physician leadership program and the Transforming LINX Program for Senior Leaders.
A solution-minded builder, she's developed and implemented change initiatives in support of patient care optimization and physician satisfaction, while growing a culture of interdisciplinary collegiality. Her approach is grounded in a focus on the personhood of the patients she cares for and the physicians she works with. She sees every day as an opportunity to ask: "How can we do this better?"
Dr. Cummins will work closely with the BC MQI committees and system partners who share a responsibility and commitment to high-quality medical care in BC.
