The advisory committee supports development and review processes for the provincial dictionaries which are now in use for privileging of physicians, nurse practitioners, dentists and midwives at BC healthcare facilities.
From the outset, the provincial dictionaries were created to be live documents that would be updated as needed to reflect changes in practice standards or technology. In use since 2015, the dictionaries are now undergoing a scheduled review and refresh of content, to take place over 2016-19. The advisory committee is primarily focused on this 3-year refresh project, while also developing recommendations for future updates.
The committee is chaired by Dr. Becky Temple—the medical lead for dictionary review and refresh activities—and may include representative members from the College of Physicians and Surgeons of BC, Doctors of BC, and each of the health authorities and affiliates.
The need for an advisory committee will be evaluated annually.
