Alignment of criteria for methadone prescribing

Changes to methadone licensing in the province will soon be reflected in all pertinent provincial dictionaries. The elimination of section 56(1) of the Controlled Drugs and Substances Act ended the requirement for a federal exemption for prescribing. In place of the federal exemption, the College of Physicians and Surgeons of BC issued a practice standard on Prescribing Methadone in June 2018. The CPSBC standard establishes a continued requirement for evidence of adequate education with respect to prescribing.

Updates are underway to align the listed provincial dictionaries with current standards.
